CNC stands for Computer Numerical Control. We have three large CNC mills which we use to machine our enlargements, patterns, molds, templates, models, or whatever we need. Like 3D scanning, CNC milling is a craft in and of itself with many variables contributing to the quality and accuracy of the machined part. There are countless configurations and strategies for using our CNC machines, but here is a brief illustrated outline of a basic process for a sculpture:

- Segment a model into parts that are appropriate to fit on a CNC machine.
- Using a segment of the model, create a Toolpath which describes the motions the machine must make in order to cut out the part.
- Fixture a block of material to the machine.

Run the toolpath on the machine.
Repeat for the various parts and assemble the complete sculpture.
